Antique Weimar Cake Plate Handled Serving Plate 1900s Made in Germany


This is a lovely white and gold Weimar cake or serving plate is from the 1900s as dated by its logo (see below). The plate is in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is very little signs of wear on it. The plate measures 10 inches in diameter.

Weimar Porzellan was built in 1790 by ceramists Christian Andreas Speck. In 1797, Speck presented the first porcelain products at the Leipzig Fair. Weimar was creating tableware for the middle class by 1816 employing 155 workers.

After the death of Speck, the Vogt family ran the factory until 1836 when it was sold to Gottfried Sorge. In 1841, Mr. Streitbarth and a Mr. H. Kastner formed a venture called Weimar. In 1847, they sold the factory to the factory to the Fasolt family. In 1856 Fasolt’s widow and his sons ran the factory with porcelain entrepreneur Edward Eichler.

In 1900 the word “Germany” was added to the Saxon shield trademark to reinforce the company’s image as an exporter.

In 1917, the Carstens Family acquired the porcelain factory and they added a crown and laurel wreath to the company’s trademark.

In 1928, the trademark was registered as Weimar Porzellan. The company was passed into public ownership in 1948. In January 2007, Könitz Porzellan GmbH bought Weimar Porzellan.

1. Personal Information
The shop collects your name, address, and email address as well as a link to your Etsy account through their convo system. We use this information to fulfill your order and ship it out to you. In addition, this contact information will be the system we will use to provide any additional customer support or service. This information is stored for four (4) years. We (the Lazy Y) do not share any of your information with any one or any organization.

2. Legal Bases to collect, use and share personal information.
We solely use this information for selling and shipping you your purchase. No information will be shared with outside vendors or marketplaces.

We will contact you to ask for consent (which you can revoke at ay time) before sending any marketing materials or contact that is not associated with a specific purchase.

We will notify you if it is necessary to comply with a connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and

The Lazy Y is in compliance under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

Etsy: I share information with the Etsy Marketplace as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.

Very Good Vintage Condition

I use the term "very good vintage condition" for pieces that are in excellent condition. Yet please remember that these items have mostly been used before; so they will have a few imperfections. Anything that is obvious will be noted in the description and/or pictures.

Good Vintage Condition

When the description uses the term "good vintage" condition; it means that it does have some flaws (and should be noted in the description). Less than perfect, but still in good shape.


We do offer refunds, but the item will have to be returned to us before the refund is completed. We do NOT pay for return shipping. Please, let us know if you have any issues, we will be glad to discuss them with you to determine an outcome.

Customer Service/Communication

We will return all messages within a 24 hour period, but we do strive to reply as quick as possible.

Breakage in Shipping

NOTE: Change in policy: The USPS has changed it claims requirement to having to bring in the box and broken piece to the local post office in order to file a claim on this insurance. We apologize for for this, as we know that it is not good service.

The following is the Lazy Y’s new return policy for pieces that arrive broken:
1. Please take pictures of the broken item and the box and packaging and send those to me in a message.
2. I will then file a claim for reimbursement and send you the claim number.
3. I will then ask you to take the broken piece and its packaging to your local post office for their review (remember to bring the claim number with you).
4. Notify me that this step was taken and I’ll issue a refund at that time.

What does vintage mean?

Vintage means an item is at least 20 years old or at the most 99 years old. Once it is 100 years old, you can call it an antique. Please be aware that you are purchasing a used item. We keep trying to improve our descriptions and pictures to point out chips or dents or other issues a piece may have.

Saying that, there may be small vintage wear that go unnoticed. I do go over the piece when I buy it, wash it, take its picture, write its description or weigh it. Yet still, sometimes I miss it. The right light will show scratches on dinner plates for example. One time, you could see a crack in a piece of pottery in the photograph that you could not see when looking at it.

Local Delivery Requests

We do not offer any customer pick up as we are online only.

If you are in a 5 mile radius or so, you can message me about a local drop off. We do charge a $5 delivery fee. Message us before the purchase and we can change the shipping costs to reflect this charge.

If farther than 5 miles, we will considering meeting or a drop off for a fee. That fee will be determined once we know the location. Again, message us with your address and/or zip code and we'll let know if delivery would be available and what the fee would be.
