Antique Prussian Sauce Bowl and Underplate Small Handled Royal Rudolstadt

This is a beautifully hand painted handled sauce bowl that is stamped Prussia Royal Rudolstadt with a crown and shield mark with the letter “B” in it. It also has the same crown and shield mark imprinted into the porcelain.

The bowl is in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. The hand painted roses are really very amazing. It is trimmed in 24K gold and the gold is completely intact.

The bowl measures 6.5 inches in diameter from handle to handle and stands 1.25 inches tall. The base is a little rough with flaws in the manufacturing of the piece.

The underplate is not of the same maker. The mark on it is Favorite Bavaria and it is signed by William Wands. The colors are extremely close in shade to the bowl which is why I’m putting them together.

The flower is a dogwood, I believe. The plate is in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There are no scratches, but a small rough mark in the center.

The plate measures 6.25 inches in diameter.

The B in the shield mark was used by Beyer & Bock from 1900 to 1920. They were in business in Volkstedt, Thuringia, Germany, from 1853 to 1960. It was founded as a decorating company and began decorating porcelain after 1890. The company was nationalized in 1960 and became Porcelain Factory Rudolstadt Volkstedt.

In 1910 professional china decorator, William Wands, opened his Wands Art Co. and started producing floral designs on fine china in Chicago, IL. This is an early 1910 Favorite Bavaria hand painted Floral Plate signed by Wands.

Breakage in Shipping

Jimmy works really hard to ensure a safe delivery of your package. But we have had damage through the shipper in the past. If you would please send us a picture or two of the damage box and/or its contents. We can file for insurance and will refund the costs of the items.

What does vintage mean?

Vintage means an item is at least 20 years old or at the most 99 years old. Once it is 100 years old, you can call it an antique. Please be aware that you are purchasing a used item. We keep trying to improve our descriptions and pictures to point out chips or dents or other issues a piece may have.

Saying that, there may be small vintage wear that go unnoticed. I do go over the piece when I buy it, wash it, take its picture, write its description or weigh it. Yet still, sometimes I miss it. The right light will show scratches on dinner plates for example. One time, you could see a crack in a piece of pottery in the photograph that you could not see when looking at it.
